How do I remove the botton cowl from the engine block of my 1962 merc 700?

I have remove the power head from the leg on my 1962 Merc700 (ser#1532468). I can't get the bottom cowl to come away from the engine block. I do not see any fasteners holding it on? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
