How do I remove and old shaft adapter from steering wheel

I took my old steering wheel off and found a shatter adapter behind it. The new wheel I purchased came with an 3/4 tapered end on it already. I am not sure to remove the shaft adapter shown in the picture. Internet searches have been useless.

Use a 2-jaw puller, or use a cut-off wheel to split it
