I got this 2 horse and im not sure about mounting it. My friend told me to put a piece of marine grade plywood on each side and attach it to that. Should i?

Need a little more info.Why won't it just drop on the transom?
Plywood on each side of transom would make it something like 3 inches
thick way more than the clamp would fit.
If the present transom is too thick you could bolt a piece of 3/4" ply to the outside of the transom. Motor would be a little high but it shouldn't matter at the speed of a 2 hp.
If the inside is not glassed you could chissel out enough so the clamp will fit over.

it cracks its made as a sail boat boat can have a motor should i put like plastic or somethin Im hopin to get maybe a thin metal sheet
