So i picked up a used 2003 9.9 Hp Merc as a kicker for a great price. It runs great but it has a damaged prop. I have been trying to read the prop info from the prop but I can't read it. Is there any way to match the prop from the engine serial number? I have been searching the merc sites and the to say the least the online documentation is screwy. Anyway all I can figure out so far is my motor is a 2003 9.9 merc Serial number OT656564. I also found a stamping A12 91 on the prop. So any help would be appreciated.

You may be able to have a prop shop repair the prop and/or they could measure it for you.Did you look under the prop nut for some numbers?
Actually the prop size would depend on the boat your using it on.
It isn't likely to be a "standard"prop. More likely a 5" or 7" pitch.
Don't worry about diameter it will follow the pitch. Also if its a big boat a 4 blade prop would work better. Is the motor a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?

The motor is a 4 stroke and the prop is a 3 blade. Unfortunatley one of the blades is about a third missing. To repair will probably cost as much as a new prop. Previouslythe motor was used on a 14 foot v hull. I want to use it as a kicker on a 16 Hewescraft Searunner. When I used the word standard prop I meant it was stock. And finally I could't read the numbers on the hub I guess I will have to remove it and clean it up. But thanks for the help.

Take it to a prop shop, they'll be able to measure what's left ... ;)

I think for the 16' a 7" 4 blade should work.
there are 2 listed here the one with the smaller diameter should work.
a 4 blade will have better control.

Using your engine serial number the "Stock" prop that would have come with the engine from new is going to be either part number 828156A12, PROPELLER, (9.00 x 9.00) Or part number 19636A10 depending on your gear ratio.

A gear ratio of 2.00:1 used the prop part number 828156A12, black max propeller, (9.00 x 9.00) (AKA non Big foot)

A gear ratio of 2.42:1 used the prop part number 19636A10 (Big foot) black max propeller 10 3/8R9 1/2.

So it appears like your old prop may have been part number 48-828156A12, MSRP: $98.83

Hope this helps, Good luck.:)
