How do I find out which cylinder is the number 1 and 2 on my 1985 Johnson outboard 1M

I can not find this info in my manual. I have searched on youtube and I am so frustrated. Please help!!

I would go here....

1985 Johnson Evinrude Outboard Motor Parts from 2 hp to 300 hp

then select your HP, find your engine and look up the parts manual. chances are you can figure which coil is associated with which cylinder.

Standing in back of the engine facing the spark plugs, the cylinders are read as follows:

2.....1

4.....3

1 & 3 = Starboard bank............ 2 & 4 = Port Bank.

Ok thanks so much. I got that figured out. Now trying to figure out the timing.
