How do I check to see if rectifier is bad?

Hi, late 90's Nissan 25 hp, coil was bad, replaced, but still no spark. How do I check to see if rectifier is bad? Ohm meter? Rectifier has four wires, red, white, yellow, black. numbers on rectifier are as follows..:

5403y3

Checked the shut-off switch, by the ignition switch, it is connected. What have I missed?

The rectifier has zero to do with the engine ignition system. Get a manual and then test:

Trigger Coil
Exicter Coil
CD Module
Kill Switch
Igntion Switch
Fuse
