It has a switch up by the trolley motor three position switch the top position says 12:24 charge the middle says 12:24 run the bottom says 12 run how does how do I charge the batteries are they automatically charged when I'm driving them the gas motor

That switch is for charging your batteries through the same receptacle that your trolling motor plugs into. You need a charger set up with a plug. You unplug the trolling motor and plug the charger in to charge. In most cases the gas engine does not charge your trolling motor batteries. Do you have a 24 volt trolling motor with two batteries plus a starting battery in your boat? I have found it just easier after getting home from fishing to just clip the charger on each trolling battery individually.
