How do I bleed air from Yamaha 150 trim/tilt

My trim/tilt sounds like it is passing air, goes up some and comes back down slowly after letting off the switch.

I opened what i assumed was the fill hole but noticed it was 1/2 down the resevoir and fluid came out when I opened it.

Is there a way to bleed these things?

Thanks!

From the service manual:

1. Tighten the manual valve fully clockwise.
2. Power the power tilt & trim fully up.
3. Remove reservoir filler cap & check level. Add fluid until it overflows. Replace cap.

ATF Dexron II

4. Cycle the tilt & trim up & down 4 or 5 times
5. With the tilt fully up re-check and top up as required.

If the unit is full and continues to fall down slowly you probably have a damaged o ring on the manual valve.

Good luck.

Reviving old thread since I have same/similar issue.

I think I may have the "damaged o ring" on the manual valve, is there a procedure to repair or does this need a trip to the mechanic shop to be done? If I remove the entire unit from the outboard, are there places that can repair for me?

I most likely overtightened the screw, thinking it needed to turn CW instead of CCW after looking at the image on the side of the motor.

I am referencing my VZ150TLRC, 150 HP HPDI 2 stroke

Thanks in advance,
