I made the tough discovery that it looks like it's mounted outside the transom but above the universal joint area. How the heck do I get to it to replace it if necessary? I sure hope the stern drive doesn't need to be pulled to replace the switch.:%

But can I not check it's function from the two leads, one blue, one purple from inside the boat?

Please help.:'(

Ayuh,...... The Outdrive,+ Probably the Gimbel Housing as well..........

You can check the wires on the Inside,... But,.. They Usually Rot Off, Outside.......
And,.... Most of them are Black Wires......

It will take removing the drive, bell housing and gimbal ring to change the switch and with a little luck it will last a couple of years at best. Most have been bypasted as it is a very major job and the switches are short lived

So is my best option to trim up using my up/out and up button like I have been doing? I guess I can watch my trim gauge to make sure I keep it in the green.

That's not what I wanted to hear but it is pretty much what I expected. Nice move putting them in accessible areas after 1975(?).

Thanks for the help. :):)

If you find the wires on the Inside of the Transom,+ By-pass them at the bullet connectors,.......
You'll be able to use the Up button,.... Instead of that,+ the Tilt button......

By-passed the switch today by joining the purple and blue wires. Up/out functions as the up trim and trailer up. Down still works the down. No more having to hold two buttons in to trim up while driving.:%

All is well.:)
