I cannot get the water tube to stay in the powerhead and was told I will have to pull the powerhead to replace the tube. Does anyone have any suggestions on the difficulty of this for an average guy or any other way to get the water tube back in place?. Any idea on the cost for this to be done by a marina? Thanks

hello,
i just pulled the ph on my 95 40 hp and it was my first. if you do it by yourself a hoist might be helpful but no required. it is pretty simple. i had to replace the adapter plate on mine. going back is a little funky. the ground for the starter wants to get in the way. be careful it does not get under the adapter plate.

Thanks for the reply Mackje. My motor is a 88 and I think I will give it a try. I have a Clymer manual so I hope if I follow instructions I wont find any surprises. My water tube is chewed up at the top so it may be broken off at the top and need to be replaced. Seems like an awful lot of work just to replace the tube. How long did the job take you?
