How close are the parts of a 1989 110 Johnson VRO to say a 1986 90 Johnson or a 1981 115.

Re: How different are the parts?

Some parts, very similar, others, not so much. I think they use the same pistons in all three, but the carbs and ignitions may vary a bit. Lower units are more or less interchangeable across the range, too. Best to check the parts lists at brp.com to confirm. Click the little magnifying glass in the parts lists to see equivalent part numbers...

Exactly. What parts are we talking about? The motors are all in the same family but some family members aren't exactly the same as others......

The rod bearing went on the 110 and I need to replace the crank and rods and one piston and the bearings all the rest made it through. I've located 115 to use for parts just thought I'd ask before I bought it.

All of those motors you list use the same crank, rods & bearings. the pistons are the same but you'll probably end up boring and getting new pistons.
