How can i tell what year my motor is ?

I have a late 60's early 70's Johnson Super Quiet 40 horse. I know you can tell the year by the serial numbers. It is J2775025. The model number is RDSL-29E. If any one can give me any input i would greatly appreciate it.

I think it is a 1967. Go to www.marineengine.com/manuals/johnson/ and you may find what you need to know.

another good website to check out is http://mitglied.lycos.de/old_omc/ they list motors from 1950-71 they also have catalogs that you can veiw to see what that year looks like.
