i have a 120 evinrude it was repainted and i cant find serial or model numbers i dont think the plate is there any more is there anouther way to tell year

Look for a quarter sized welch plug between the cylinder heads. It should have the model and serial numbers stamped in.

If the plug is missing or you can't read it, there are some other ways to narrow it down. Let us know what you find.

Carb cleaner and a small acid brush works well to remove paints

DO NOT USE sandpaper, you could easily booger the numbers stamped into the soft aluminum plug
