I have a 17 foot bowrider and was wondering what is the biggest trailer I should get. I was thinking of a trailer that could hold a 20 foot at the most. Is this about right? Thanks.

Re: How big is too big

if you go to big, you will need to move your axels to get the right tounge weight.

I have a 19.5' bow rider... got a trailer that could hold a 25' boat.
Major adjustment to all the bunks, then moved the bow stop about 4'

I'm light on the tounge weight right now. Instead of moving the axels, since I have such a long tounge, I'm going to mount a truck box on the front to put camping stuff in. That will give me the tounge weight I need.

The long tounge is VERY nice for at the ramp, as my rear wheels never need to get wet.

In pic below you can see how looong my tounge is

I have always heard that you are making a mistake to fit a trailer that is too big for the boat.

The opinions are that the springs are too stiff for a lighter boat, and that the trailer will not "give". This subjects the boat to road shocks as if there was no suspension at all.

I believe that this has been discussed in previous posts on this board.
