how best to tension the raw waterpump belt on a 3.0 GS ?

hi gents ! i replaced my belts on my volvo- but its very hard to tension the waterpump belt. putting a hammer or similar between the block and the pump to tension it tends it twists a little to the side so the belt is not running perfectly.

any ideas and hints ?

don- GS PNCA with servo steering . ( but i regard only to the raw waterpump) - the other two belts are no problem for tensing .

That belt doesn't have to be as tight as the alternator belt, which will let it stay straight. I usually just pulled the pump tight by hand, no prybar of any kind.
