Ok.....took my bass boat out that i had not used in 3 years this weekend. i have cranked it every year and let it run a bit, had fuel stablilizer in it, and mixed about 10 gas of fresh gas in with about 15 of the old gas already in the tank. it is a 1992 60 hp mercury. i put it in water, stayed close to dock for about 10 mins, everything was fine. then alarm goes off, i ease back the 25 yards or so to dock, and call my boat mechanic. he says the mercurys are bad about the low oil sensor in the oil tank saturating and to unplug the light blue wires and see if it stops, but of course keep eye on oil tank. buzzer stops, still runs fine, so i take off at 3/4 throttle away from dock. it runs fine for about 10 mins, then just stops.....no warning, nothing. engine turns over freely, but will not hit at all. i get a tow back, and while being towed i raise engine. about 10 mins into tow i lower engine and it fires, i unhook, ride maybe 1/2 mile, it dies. it recranks, no problem, and i make it the last 1/2 mile to dock. it idles and purrs like it always has. park it and notice some oil leaking out. upon inspection, notice small rubber lines under oil tank are broken and leaking. i check compression when i get home and all cylinders are 110----or within a pound of that. cranks as soon as i touch starter, but i cut off immediately, of course. how bad is this going to hurt??
