How are Anchor Rollers?

I got one on my boat, though I haven't used it for two reasons.

1) It is missing a u-bracket that attaches to the front, (need to figure out how to replace that)

2) I do not have the appropriate anchor type.

What type of Anchors do people use for this and what is the best way to secure the anchor so when you are riding around it doesn't bounce around in chop. Do many people use their roller?

Re: How are Anchor Rollers?

I have an anchor roller on the bowsprit of my 22' Thundercraft Magnum with a Bruce (Plow) Anchor.

I bought the boat used and the anchor roller did not have a u-bracket either so I just wrap a small bungee cord around it and it works like a charm.

Re: How are Anchor Rollers?

I did some research last night, it looks like it doesn't use a u-bracket, but pin quick disconnect that holds what looks like should be a Lewmar anchor in place. If I remember correctly I am wondering if the quick disconnect pin is stored in the roller axle. I remember seeing a cable that goes from one side of the roller to the other side.

Unless you have a windless to pull up your anchour, you do not want the U shape thingy on there.
Remember how hard it is at times to break free the anchor from the bottom, and when your pulling in alot of line your pulling it in by hand over hand method and that piece just adds friction.
