Why not celebrate the fact that we did have an election and we were free to vote. The outcome may or may not be to your liking, but to be able to go to a polling station without fear is a celebration of freedom.
So please stop crowing victory or whining defeat. We all won.
The next thing should be a little talk about how we should try and work together and leave this stupid partisanship behind.
Boom you are invited to come and fish with me in my favorite spot.

That's the way I always feel after an election. Just the wonder of it all and the fact we don't end up shooting our neighbors if our candidate didn't win.

As Rodney KIng said, "Can't we all just get along."

I prefer Gevalia over Starbucks, but would never turn down a good cup of Starbucks ...

Agree, rolmops, we can vote without fear of retaliation. That is a victory. And I do agree that we should work together now, and I think we should have worked together before the election. And to that, I find it interesting that both parties are talking about working together NOW, but before the election neither party wanted anything to do with the other ... hmmm ... maybe it was a good election after all, or maybe they are still lying through their teeth - we can only hope that the future will be bright.

Re: How about a cup of coffee?

I am in Australia and here I like a flat white . . . well maybe it's a long black, no, make it a bodum. Ten points if you can list what those are. Aldo, can't play.

Great thread rolmops. Agree, although I think partisanship and polarisation are natural and indications of freedom as well . . .

One of the reasons we take voting for granted is the fact that there is no suppressed vote. There is no real intimidation, there are no barriers. Not to pick a fight at all, but somebody ought to remind Jimmy Carter of this. It is really odd to me, that we can agree that simply voting is worthy of celebration and he tells the rest of the world that our elections are unfair . . . Very strange.

Re: How about a cup of coffee?

OK here goes.
A flat white is a small cup with about a third expresso and two thirds steamed milk with a bit of foam on top.
A long black is a large expresso,in Australia they would tell you that it should be 45cc of expresso although some like the larger version with 60 cc of the golden liquid.
As for Bodum,it is the name of my french coffee maker, but I don't know a specific type of coffee that has earned the maker's name

How 'bout a chorus of" Kum Bay Yah"?

Or is that just a touch too much "togetherness"?

Agree. Freedom is one thing we all share. We are the only people that recognize that rights are given to us from God and not the government and we all together choose our government. If we don't like an elected official then next election they will be fired and replaced.
In 1776 the world had doubts that we could last. We are still here. Our form of government still works for the common good of the people. We will be here for a long time to come.

QC, he just keeps trying to get it right. Don't be hard on the dunce. One day he might achieve the legacy that his Presidency could not provide for him.:/

Re: How about a cup of coffee?

6.6 points for rolmops. I am not sure how universal it is, but Qantas lists coffee as bodum on their menu, one of those deals where the brand name has become a description.

Feels a little bit like a hijack, but of course the title of the thread concerns coffee. Maybe we should vote on it . . . :}

You're probably right Boomer . . .

Re: How about a cup of coffee?

Actually, the French don't claim French toast, French fries, or even French kissing. They're missing their legacy.
Citroen had it right once but France messed that company up, too.

Re: How about a cup of coffee?

Champagne is awful and is only useful for spraying around at formula one races, which a French car built in England wins on a regular basis.

Cuisine? Nope! Eating snails, slugs and frogs is something that should only be during survival training and if you ever have to put that training into practice then make sure your comrade is fatter than you are and has plenty of meat on the bone! d:)

English cuisine........steak pie, roast beef, yorkshire pudding, curry, black pudding! We rule the world! 8)
