Any one make a house boat on a 2 toon pontoon??
I was just mulling the possibility around.

Thought about 2x2 framework with a low pitched roof And thin luan walls. Not quite 8' high.(lower center of grav.) Having only a bed and "small" dinet. Little craper room ect

Has it been done before? Is it possible ?:confused:

I'm sure it has been done and is possible.

Start with 25'' tubes and a tri tube would be better.

As long as you watch your weight you should be okay.

Being tha tall wind is going to play havoc with you so you will need some pretty beefy ancors and a decent size motor and make sure oyu have enough windows to safetly operate it, you almost have to have 360 vision on the water.

Sure you can build one yourself. There are also some old crest pontoon houseboats out there. I'm currently rebuilding a 72 crest to be similar to what you are describing. I'd plan to make the roof lower though unless you are getting a wide set of toons. Mine are 8'x35' long the factory had a ceiling height of about 6' in the back. When I re framed it I raised it 3 1/2'' just so its high enough for me to stand in. Like was suggested to you try to keep center of gravity as low as possible. Mine is very utilitarian in its floor-plan and design the couch makes into a bed and so does the dining table. Its generally a floating camper for two. Have fun with your project and enjoy.

I noticed there are several house boats for sale here in Cedar Rapids. They have great underwater views! :D
