This is a pretty general question, but what are high and low hours for waverunners? For example, is 100 hours high or low for a 2004 yamaha? Thanks.

Re: Hours?

I dunno, I got 280 hrs. on a 1995 Yamaha 701cc 3 seater and 340 hrs. on a 1996 Yamaha 701cc 3 seater and just checked compression last month, 175 psi (hi comp head)on the 95, and 160psi in both holes on the 96 (supposed to be 150), so comp is still strong. Alot depends on how hard it has been run and how it was maintained. I've heard average life of 2 strokes is between 500-1000, don't know if that's true but my Yamahas keep going, and going, and going...:D

Re: Hours?

all true,, but it depends on the engine , the 701 was known for it's longevity and used by a lot of rental companies , however the rings on a 2 stroke do wear out and need to be replaced,, the 4 stroke engine rings can last for thousands of hours with little wear once they are seated.
