hour meter

what would cause the hour meter to "click" when the key is on,,even wnen the engine is off and key on it still clicks

Because it's wired so that anytime the ignition switch is on, it's counting... Pretty common to have them set up this way...Something to keep in mind if you need your switch on to run accessories, like the radio, Etc...
