homeboy,<br /><br />The easiest way is to find a lead that is only hot with the ignition switch in the on position.<br /><br />If you have guages, there will be a post on each of them that says "12V" or "I" or "IGN".<br /><br />You may find that you have another accesory that only works when the engine is running.<br /><br />Simply hook the + lead of the hour meter to a positive switched lead and the ground (-) lead to a good common ground.
