Hour meter not reading Faria Tach - Hour meter gage

Hi Everyone, I purchased a 2011 Ebbtide 2660 Ztrak Fun Cruiser in Oct. 2023. It showed just under 100 hours on the hour meter which is a factory Faria Tach-Hour meter gage. Just before I picked the boat up the seller had his crew (purchased from a car dealership) clean the boat up which I appreciated. These were just young guys who work in the service department so not the most experienced or wise. Anyway they used a pressure washer to clean the boat up outside and inside. Of course water went everywhere. After the pressure washing job the hour meter and tach did not work at all. After a short time on the first post washing use the tach started working and now works fine. The hour meter has never started working. Is there anything I can do to try to correct the problem short of just buying a new gage?

Can check the connections but I'd wager they probably got water inside the gauge which shorted it and its toast.

If that's indeed the case, just replace it and if it really, really bugs ya, put a label on the meter including how many hours to add to the current reading. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape on it though.

**Faria offers a repair service, probably more than what it'd cost to replace the gauge, if you want to go that route.

If replacing, the hours can be run up on the new by applying 12VDC to gauge and adding a pulse generator to the signal input. I set mine so tach read 3k RPM. The generators are super cheap.

$8 for 5 of them.

I did it on my new tach / hour gauge and worked like a charm, but had it connected for like 21 days to get the hours to 508.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm not sure what I'll do. I have been told an option is a standalone hour meter that resides in the engine compartment. I think it can be advanced to allow for the current hours. I'm going to check on that option. I hold out hope although slim that the current gage will dry out and start working, probably wishful thinking but I can hope:)
