I just bought a 1987 Doral 24 ft and would like to install a hot water tank. The wiring and taps are there ,and I think I can hook up plumbing straight from the tank to existing taps.I heard you can get some of your hot water by going through the engine.Doral says they do not have a diagram to work off of and I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas on how to do this.PS I know this is the wrong forum but I did not know where else to ask. Thank You

I think I would borrow from the sailboats and go solar. The parts are easily accessable. There are disadvantages with both systems.

The hot water heater is basically like a heat exchanger, coolant loops through it to heat your fresh water. I would suggest getting the diagram from the manufacturer of the water heater and going from there.
