Hey again, I am shopping for a reman long block for the 97 searay......my mechanic is insisting on a Hot tested block.....I have been looking at the 4.3 from rapido, and I notice that those are just test spun.

what kind of difference am I looking at between the two? is the hot tested engine just less work for my mechanic.....im curious because rapidos prices are hard to beat on my budget.....

thanks always

Re: Hot tested VS. SIM tested

What is he/you referring to with "Hot" tested?
Slang can mean different things in different areas.

I believe he is referring to a remanufactured engine that has been fully tested up to a specific rpm and ran until operating temp is reached, and then tuned i assume?. specifically he has quoted me on a Jasper remaned engine.....but it is quite a bit more money that the long block from Raul.

Re: Hot tested VS. SIM tested

Jasper does run them, but you are buying a long block, not a complete engine, so no tuning involved. But run testing a long block takes parts that are not included with the engine and extra time to setup and do.
If you are buying by "Cheapest" price alone, don't expect all the extra work to run test one. It all takes time and time is money.
The fact that any of the remaned engine sellers charge so little, means they spend little time with details.

I bought a jasper last year, Runs great.
The rear main leaked, but jasper paid th have it fixed, locally.
Great customer service, too. They actually return phone calls.
And the check was mailed 2 days later.
