HELP!!!! (Sorry, I have to tell you the long story before I ask my question).

I had connected the rabbit ears to the lower housing. The garden hose was going through the garage side door to the yard where I was trying to adjust the idle speed on my 1987 Force 125. Someone parked a car in the garage over the garden hose cutting off water flow to the engine. I guess I ran the engine for about 2 minutes before I realized that the water supply had gotten cut off. I quickly turned off the engine, removed the spark plugs to vent the cylinders. After moving the culprit's vehicle, I reconnected the spark plugs and tried to start the engine and the temperature alarm sounded off as soon as I turned the key to "ON" position. I waited about ten minutes and the alarm still sounded. Making sure that the water was making it's way to the rabbit ears, I went ahead and started the engine hoping that water would cool off the engine. Sure enough, the alarm shut off and everything seemed to be back to normal.

And now my question: How can I check if this incident caused any damage that may not be visible. The engine runs fine, the water pump seems to be pushing the water through. Is there anything I can do to check whether there was any damage done?

Thank you in advance.
ForceRider

Re: Hot Engine

If the tell tale is good (actually pissing), your impeller survived.

Keep an eye on it (as always) and make sure you change it at the next recommended service.

And be grateful 'cause you just had a tremendous luck !
