Has anyone ever heard the term HOT boat. A guy was telling me if the ground on your boat is not hooked up right you could have a HOT boat and fishing from a HOT baot will not be any good. It sounds "fishy" to me does anyone have a comment?

Sure, if the wiring is screwed up you can have a situation where the underwater metal parts are 'live' (AKA - hot).

Too much voltage in the water (whether it's galvanic or battery) can put the fish off the bite, not to mention corrosion.

Aldo

Hmmm... Wonder if that would work like "shocking up" catfish with a generator? ;) ;)

Re: "HOT" boat

From the reading that i have done a "hot "boat occurs when a alumaium (sp) boat is used. This type boat will create a electrical field when put in water, and it can repel fish.I read a book by **** Poole and it said if you use two battery's to run a wire from one neg to the other neg on the batterys and the electrical field will be broken.

That is what i did on my Alumacraft, and my catch rate did seem to increase, and i also seemed to graph more fish close to the surface.I know that using downriggers with steel cable will create a electrical field also.

Heres some info on this topic:

http://www.protroll.com/blkbox3.html

Personally Is use downriggers when fishing for the most part but a person can test and use this product if they choose without downriggers.
