Loose or corroded clamps/connection?

Re: hot battery terminals

Heat is generated when an electrical current flows through resistance. The starter draws a large amount of current, so even a small amount of resistance can generate a substantial amount of heat. Resistance can be introduced by dirt between the terminal surfaces or a loose connection or both. As akwalker says, you have a corroded (dirty) or loose connection.

Re: hot battery terminals

I will try cleaning and tieghting connections. I noticed on a old thread that some said to do away the wingnuts and get stainless bolts. What do you think? thanks
