Horn / or Whistle coming from Carb/ Engine

Howdy fellas. I went to take the boat out today and there is either some sort of horn or a whistle coming from the carb. All indications are normal oil/water.. And all hoses look connected. Any idea what it could be??<br /><br />This is a 1990 Mercruiser 5.7 with 4 barrel on it.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />T

I had a car once that did that. The carburator was loose on the intake manifold and sucking air through the gap. Of course that was 40 years ago! <br /><br />You might also check the flame arrestor to make sure it's clean and not obstructed.

Already checked everything with a glance. it does not look like anything real obvious.. near as I can tell it is probably coming from the carb. Is It possible there is a restriction in one of the jets causing it? Sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes it doesnt

Hey Kelvin,.... <br />That sure Sounds like a Vacuum Leak to Me.......<br /><br />Start it up,+ Spray around the carb.+ manifold connections with WD-40 (or Starting Fluid if your Brave, it's what I use),... When the engine Revs Up,.. That's where it's Leaking........<br />It could be along the Head area too.......<br /><br />You'll want to get it Fixed,... It'll cause a Lean Condition,..... That's Not a Good Thing..........<br /><br />Any Dry Ground down Your way,..... Or,.. Are you still Treading Water,..????............

Thanks Bill! I will have to try that. Plenty of dry ground where I live in New Orleans, just not a lot of services, they evacuated us to FT Worth though. So I am living over there for 3-6 months, back to the fresh water boatingt thing..LOL...
