Sorry this happened, but neither boater thought to cut the throttle and slow down? Just kept swerving into each others path until it was too late.

Sounds like lack of good common sense has claimed another life, sorry to hear a person has died, I know I would have cut the throttle.

How did they both try to yield the right of way, and fail?

I'm guessing one slowed down at the last second, just as the other tried to swerve around him.

Also guessing one or both weren't aware of the other until 2 seconds before impact.

Too bad we will never know.

Can give you an update! The other boater was not under the influence of anything; it was ruled "accidental". I fish that lake; and this is not uncommon. This lake is always full of PWC's that love to buzz boaters and fisherman. The Lake Patrol guys have a field day on weekends. Texas is one of the "No Refusal" State. If they suspect alcohol or drugs; you refuse; you go to jail. Simple.

Sad a life was lost doing something I bet both boaters loved. I feel for both families and it does make you wonder. I've had close calls myself, but it was fishing at night and the boat approached us really fast as we were anchored with the proper lights on near the shoreline. I can only imagine if we weren't there with lights on, if the other boat would have run ashore? Be careful out there folks, nothing is worth a life.

Very tragic indeed. Nothing is worth taking that kind of chance when fun is at stake. I'm sure the surviving boater is devastated.
