hi all , just joined the forum and i am from the united kingdom,

i have just aquied a boat with a chrysler 35hp outboard model # 357hd serial # 4508 ,i have paid for the online manual from seloc but not much use
i have 2 problems that i hope somebody may be able to help with

1st, no spark when i turn the engine over

2nd, there is no starter key ,just 4 wires to two rocker switches, battery fully charged but nothing happens when i switch on the switches,

has anybody any idea how i can wire this up correctly to at least get her turning over by the starter (this works when i connect the battery straight to the starter )
and finaly any ideas on the no spark

many thanks

I am not sure, but if you are turning the starter over by connecting it directly to the battery, that doesn't mean that you are going to get a spark to the motor. You have to have the ignition on to get spark, just like a car you can get the starter going by connecting it directly to the battery, but the engine won't start because the ignition path isn't connected.

Now, without an ignition key so to speak, I am not sure how you get the "ignition path" turned on. hopefully someone knows how to help you

thanks for all the replys but know sorted, who ever wired the start system up with the rocker switches had wired the red wire to the wrong side of the starter relay , i managed to get a switch and key and rewired to the diagrame and all is well , turn the key the startermotor engages flywheel turns and sparks at the plugs.

thanks for the help

Good to hear. If you run that in salt water make sure you flush it each time out. Also make sure you remove the lower unit on a regular basis if in salt water to help prevent corrosion.
