first off I'm not too sure if i posted this in the right spot.. so sorry in advance if i didnt.

I've had my boat out on the water a few time now and i figured that the speedometer just didnt work. I've been messing around with the motor lately and i kept seeing this tube going from the speedometer to the back of the boat. after playing around with it for a bit i noticed that the speedometer moves when i suck or blow into the tube.. so now i realized that it actually works.. i just have to figure out where the other end of the tube goes?

I know it might sound like a dumb question.. but is there a place on my motor that it is supposed to plug in to? I am going to post of a pic with this thread so you can see the tube hanging off the back of the boat.. not sure if the pic will help at all but ill post it anyway.

any advise is always appreciated.

Re: hooking up speedometer?

You need to install a pitot tube at the transom and connect it to the hose.

Re: hooking up speedometer?

Maybe good to go. These things are notoriously failure prone and inaccurate. To the point I stopped worrying about mine. Just relied on the GPS once WAAS (refines GPS accuracy) came out. In fact, I've taken the Pitot Tube off my project boat and don't plan on replacing it.

But do hook yours up as that will be a simple step, and use it while it works.

Sea ya...

Re: hooking up speedometer?

thanks for the advise captainkickback.. I was actually wondering how accurate it would even be if i hooked it up.. the only reason i am happy that it might work is because that speedometer was the onyl thing left on the boat that i didnt get working since i bought it. it was just kinda bugging me in the back of my head lol.. at least it will look cool when we are out on the water :)

thanks again
