Hooking up a Tach

Hi!
I have a Mercury 850 year 1963 outboard. I would like to install a tach on it.
How can I wiring?
Master Service Manual ( Section VII - starters on page 47) cannot useful for me. On this forum I read, that tach signal is come from rectifier yellow cable.
Is this good or how can I wiring?
If some pics about it that would be great.

Asking questions in a 6 year old thread usually won't give what you need. Look at the Help Tip on the top of the page.

Depending on what tach you have, the guide to connect to one of the yellow wires from the stator to rectifier is correct. What tach are you planning on using?

As I see, I have a Sea Ray tach.

Maybe original, but not wiring on it.
