Hooked battery up wrong. No power to ignition

1986 force 125 on a runabout. Got the boat out of storage and I hooked up the battery backwards for 2-5 minutes and started to smell wires burning so instantly looked at the battery and realized my mistake. I hooked it up correctly and now the ignition does nothing. There’s power to everything else. The lights, bilge, livewell pump, etc. all work. I hooked a jumper wire from the battery to the starter and was able to start the engine so I know the battery has juice. There’s a wire connected to the positive post that has a small plastic box on it that I assume is a fuse or breaker and there’s power after that. There’s also a breaker under the cowl with a reset button and pressing that doesn’t change anything. I have a multimeter but need some guidance on what to test and how. I’m assuming one wire to the ignition switch should be hot all the time but not sure what to check after that. Also how to test the different components under the cowl. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I can’t be sure some rodents didn’t chew some wires and maybe my mistake didn’t actually hurt anything. Thank you for any help you can give!

There's a circuit breaker on the bottom of the bus bar(where the cable meets the motor harness) check for power there.
Then the wires that hook direct to the battery, some have an inline fuse at the battery end.
BUT!!! if you smelled smoke?? then you could have cooked the lead that supply's the motor.
Lastly under the dash is a fuse panel, some early Forces used the panel and had a fuse to the motor.
Hope something helpps???
Good luck.

I missed that breaker at the bottom of the bus bar. That was tripped. Reset it and we are back in business! Thanks Jerry, you’re the hero of the day sir!
