Honda year model please

I've been trying to get an accurate year model for my Honda but I've gotten a range of 1980 to 1999, probably because I was only able to provide the serial number on the engine. Finally found the serial number on the frame...here it is:

BAAS-1214472 It's a model BF15A

Can someone PLEASE help? I need to get parts but can't do that without knowing year model.

that's a 1990 or 1991....1990 serial numbers started at 1200001 8)

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

Not to question your expertise but there's a sticker on the motor that reads..."complies to 2006 EPA standards". As I understand it, didn't the EPA finalized 2006 standards in 1996? Just curious, maybe I'm wrong. d

my chart is a little vague on the mid 90's but 1998 serials started at 1300001 so possibly during the whole 90's they only manufactured 100,000 15 horse engines...yours may well be a '96 8)

check the starter,CDI box, etc. for any date of manufacture...Honda doesn't change their motors much from year to year so anything mid 90's should work8)

Hi - my BAAL 121181 was made in 1996. Most Honda dealers can get this info for you if you call them, in fact they can tell you quite a bit about your particular engine from the number if they check their computer database. I think I found this info on one of their sites also. John (Scotland)

I did check Honda's dealer website...they only keep records for a certain amount of time and that's too old to still be in there 8)
