Re: honda trim guage,to justintime

I need help. I purchased a new boat with the digital honda gauge cluster and the back light is not working and I believe the wires are not connected. Anyone with the color code for the backlight wire? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a try. I noticed there is a red with a white stripe with a t-tap type connector not used so I'll give it a try. Also wondering if there need to be a ground connected as well or the ground is already used with the cluster already?

I connected the red/white wire to the nav. lights and it did not work. I was wondering if it needed a ground connection as well. I also noticed there is a black with yellow stripe next to the red with white wire. I tested the black with yellow strip and it showed a positive and I never experiment with wires that I have no idea where it is supposed to go to. Can you see if any other wires needed to be connected. Thanks...

Re: honda trim guage,to justintime

I checked with a dealer and yes it is the red with white strip wire. I did this during daylight so it didn't appear to work but when I did it later in the evening when it was darker I could see the amber EL panel light up, it's very dim and they should've used leds. There is a black and yellow wire with a male connector and the red with white stripe with a female connector and when I put those together the gauges light up upon turning the key. What I will do is connect the red with white stripe to the nav. lights so they'll last longer. I know EL panels have short lifespan and will just get dimmer the longer they are on. Anyway thanks for the help. You were correct on the wire...:)
