Hi,
I'm assuming you have a BF8A engine model and your carburetor is type BC. If your engine is emission-controlled(probably not), you should turn the pilot screw all the way in until it gets lightly seated, then open it 2 1/2 turns. If it's not emission-controlled, you should search for a position where you'll have the highest rpm. When you're done with the pilot screw, you should adjust the idle speed screw to 1200+-100rpm, in neutral.
I took this information from Honda's carburetion manual. Let me know if I can help you any further.

Good luck!

Hi eipldau, it's me again we have followed your instructions but cant get this thing to idle it keeps stalling and fuel flows out of two over flow holes at the top of the carb, would it be that the float is not set right? thanks.

That is a fairly simple carb. Take it off the engine, if it is anything like my 15, very simple. Be careful and remove the float bowl, do not tear the gasket and you can reuse it. Spray carb cleaner through the jets and needle valve. Be careful not to bend the tangs for the float. Reassemble and give it a try. Honda cars have very small orfices and they do ten to clog easy.

Hello JC,
It sounds like either your float level is adjusted way too high, or the float's valve or its seat are faulty, letting the pump flood the bowl. It seems to me the flooding is a different problem from the idling one. The float height should be 0.388-0.400". But make sure the valve and its seat are working fine. Like gss036 said, it's a fairly simple carburetor for you to disassemble and figure out the circuits. Make sure the whole slow circuit is unobstructed by spraying fluid through all its orifices.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot Henrique,

We ordered a new needle valve and float, I think this will be the cure.
