Just bought a new Honda 115 to repower my GLS195.

My old Evinrude had a 13x19 SS prop.

This new Honda has a 15 " and runs at 6000.

My question is, can I size up the prop to say 19" and how would it effect the engines performance other than lowering the top end rpm's?

Should I go with SS rather than the aluminum?

Re: Honda prop

I'd stay with the stainless. They don't flex under load like the aluminum props. I don't know what the max. rpm that engine is suppose to turn but I'd keep it at the upper end of the range. As a rule of thumb, 1" of pitch changes the engine speed 200rpm. If you go up 1" in pitch, you'll lower the engine speed 200rpm.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Honda prop

If you are running the 15 pitch in alm now try moving up to 17 pitch alm and see where you land on the tach. The 115 & 130 tend to peak out horse-power wise at 5600-5800 rpm. The 17 pitch prop is the average prop that seems to fit the bill on most hulls in your length. If you go stainless you will most likely need to pull back the pitch one size, depends on the load you're packing on average. I have had great luck with the Power Tech props in stainless, mostly on the 225, but they are a great prop.

What is the diameter of the prop, 13 1/4? You are right at the max rpm at wot which is where you want to be. Going to a 17 pitch will drop your wot rpm to around 5600 and your hole shot will suffer. I would try a Honda performance 13 1/4 x 15 stainless.
