Honda Oil Problem

I have a problem with the Honda outbaords that i run at work.I Opr. boats owned by NOAA,and they have a serious problem.The outboards leak gas into the case and raise the oil level.About every 16hrs of Op. we have to change the oil.NOAA says so!
130 hp late 90's
90 hp late 90's

Today was the final straw for me,they wont take them into a Mech.
We were crossing the shipping channel on our way to do some reserch.When the 130 lost rpm's and died.The Operator didnt check the fluid levels in the morning.We towed the vessel to safe ground and changed the oil.Now a 130 holds about 4.2 pints,we pumped almost 2 Gallons of oil mix out!
Please help me!

What you have described is a very common problem and what we call here "Making Oil". Please take the time to do a search and you will find several threads regarding this issue.

Look under the Engine FAQ and you will find a great article written by Willie B. Wright with some answers for you.

the correct amount of oil is 6.9 quarts when you change the filter
