I have a 2000 Honda 75 hp 4stroke, I use to run it at sea level but now I'm up at 6700fr. How will the engine run? I know it will be a little rich but will this run rough at idle?
Thanks

Re: Honda mixture?

I'm familiar with high altitude running characturistics in general.
The difference of a sea level and 6700 ft. is substantial. Hot and cold starts, idle quality, and economy will suffer without adjustments. Oil contamination might also be an issue.
These adjustments should include a precise and complete (valve adjustment) major tune-up, mixture and carb balance adjustments and a slight increase in base idle. Lube and maintain the choke selenoid plunger with light oil.
This may be all that is needed. However, if the motor is living at that altitude now; I would investigate a jetting change in the carbs. And Honda may very well offer a high altitude kit for your application.

You will notice operating characturistics just as with your other vehicles. Although modern fuel injection takes care of most of these concerns, all enjines suffer from high altitude operation.

Honda suggests that above 5000' the main jet should be reduced 1 size. Above 8000' reduce 2 jet sizes from standard. You dealer can look up your carb and supply the jets. If you rejet, you will have to reinstall the std jets when going to sea level
