Hoping someone can help me, have never worked on a HONDA. Neighbor lady has a 50 hp. HONDA, dont even know the year but it has carbs. For a long time she has had problems with the alarm going off. I assume it is either an overheat or low oil pressure. She insist that it is not overheating and just dropped $1300 to have the lower unit serviced with a new water pump and I hope a new thermostat. The shop blew her off concerning a low oil press warning, it is intermittent, telling her something about the electric controls have to be programmed. So she brings it back home the other day and the alarm was sounding as she idled down the canal. She has been operating the boat for some time with the alarm going off and the motor never seized.
I am suspicious that the problem is nothing more than a bad LOP switch. Could someone tell me the location of the LOP switch and what it looks like so I can have her isolate the warning system. I can sit and give her directions but can no longer do it myself. Thankyou for your time. FRED
