I'm looking for a site where I can look up Honda engine parts.I need a fuel fitting, not for the tank, not for the fuel line. The one I need is bolted down under the motor cover.
DHP

They are identical to Johnson/Evinrude.

So much for Japanese ingenuity.

Be careful of what you purchase for the replacement. Somewhere along the way Honda went from a round alignment pin to a square one so both the line and the motor fittings have to changed at the same time. I have done this on a BF15 and a BF40 several years ago.

Re: Honda Fuel Fitting

Serverman, Thanks for the tip.I will have to check to make sure I am not fitting a round peg to a square hole.Or vise-versa.All I know is we tried to do a summer start, and had fuel all over the place when squeezing the primer.Tried another tank, same thing.Never knew about this issue.
Any ideas as to where I can order real Honda Marine parts?
DHP

Re: Honda Fuel Fitting

Hi DHPMarine,

When I first had the leaking fuel problem similar to yours I stopped in at a local Honda Marine dealer in Canada and asked to get a fuel line fitting. When they came out and showed me the fittings that is when I realized I had to buy both ends which Honda had conveniently packaged as the male and female fitting already. If I recall I paid $38 CDN for the pair of fittings in 2001.
If you go to the honda-marine web site there is a locater there for local dealers in your area. I would imagine there should be a couple in MA close to you.
I personally think Honda should have had some form of recall if they knew about this fuel leaking problem.

Re: Honda Fuel Fitting

The fuel leaking problem was caused by people trying to plug that round round connector in upside down and taking out the o ring in the fuel side with the barb on the anchor side of the connector. To idiot proof these connectors they went with the rectangular barb ,round fuel fitting ,and obsoleted the previous so that we can all be protected from our own stupidity.

Re: Honda Fuel Fitting

How about just replacing the "O" ring? I have done the on my :eek:ld" evinrude. I bought Mercury fittings for my 15 HP honda, they plug into both engines, 1989 200 Merc and 97ish 15 hp Honda. Makes for have an extra 3 gals of fuel on board.

Re: Honda Fuel Fitting

I am having the same exact problem on an older 85-ish BF7.5hp.

I am having troubles understanding the solutions talked about here. I don't want to buy a new male fitting for the motor.....is the fix to buy a NEW female connector which is connected to the fuel line?? The female connector I have is new but I may have mistakenly tried to plug it in upside down too.....like everyone else. Will a new female connector fix the o-ring problem?

Thanks!
