I have a 1999 honda 40 and I have come to the conclusion that these motors are very sensitive in the carb area. I have had my carbs off several times for cleaning (can now do it with my eyes closed) I have always wondered when reinstalling the emulsion tubes dose it matter on there position in reguards to which way the holes in the tubes face in the carb venturi ???

Re: Honda carb. emulsion tube position

O.K. I'll try this again . My sleeves kept dummping the post.Maybe that alignment is important but no one is telling anyone that and I have not seen it. Look very, very ,very ,carefully for tiny hairline cracks at the bottom of that tube. They are not visble in a visual inspection but come to light when you spray some aresol carb cleaner throgh the tube while plugging off the other end. These are tiny cracks so will have to look carefully.Do not get any of ths crap in yours eyes and take yours contacts out if you wear them.I seldom clean those [slow jets] emulsion tubes anymore.I just replace them.

Neither Honda's service manual nor the carburetion manual says there's a specific position for the emulsion tube. Unless there's some other source of information, I'd guess it can be mounted in any position.
