2000 bf90 Honda tachometer quit working stuck at 2k ordered a new one of same brand and size rewired correctly adjusted to proper cylinders and no response from turning on key or running it was sitting at 1000rpm in package and has not moved. It does have power and ground back light works. I have briefly read about a rectifier or resistor that is wired inline of the sending wire. Any input would be appreciated thanks in advance

If you unhook the Sender wire from the tachometer, then turn the key on it should still zero. If it is not zeroing then either your not getting power or the tach is bad. The Light inside the tachometer and the tachometer itself are on 2 different circuits so the light turning on does not indicate that the tachometer is getting power. I would put a DVM on the Ignition post on the back of the tachometer with the key on and measure they exact voltage that it is getting. If you have damaged or corroded wiring somewhere it may be getting voltage but maybe not enough.

What type of control box are you using? (Binnacle, side mount, or concealed/flush mount)
