An ice encrusted limb crashed onto my boat this past winter, and managed to break the frame of the motor where the tiller handle attaches to. I've got the repair parts on hand, and now need to remove the motor from the swivle case so that I can replace the frame.

I can see where the motor attaches to the frame at the top, over the two posts, and where the lower case rests against the swivle case. Simple enough, since the motor is mostly self-contained. But what about disconnecting the shift linkage? Is this something simple enough to do without the service manual on hand? I've been attempting to find an online version available for purchase, but no luck thus far. Was hoping to have it ready for the water by Monday.

Well, mostly done. I've replaced the frame, and need only now to put it all back together. The only PITA is removing the shift rod, as you've got to remove the rectifier & its bracket to access the top of the rod for removal. Once access it gained to the cotter pin, simply remove the pin and then slide the rod out the bottom. I also had to remove the handle from the motor case, so that the motor would clear the old frame while sliding it off the frame's pins. Luckily for me, the motor's a one-person lift.
