I picked up an aluminum boat with a slightly butchered Honda 9.9hp motor. The hood is gone, the carb is missing parts, and partially removed from the motor.
The motor will run on gas spray from a spray bottle.
The air box or muffler is melted.
The motor plate says its a 2005 BF9.9D5 LHA
In the boat is a partial 20hp Honda, which has a complete carb and air box, the carb looks the same other than a slightly larger throat bore.
The choke cable, connections, and bolt pattern is the same.
What would happen if I used the 20hp carb? The 9.9hp carb is a smaller bore, much smaller than the intake port. The 20hp is still smaller but a much closer match.
The 9.9hp has less displacement, 222cc vs 350cc on the 20hp of the same year.
