honda bf75 l oil light and stall probem 7.5 hp

i have older honda cdi 4 stroke not sure of the year or how to find out its blue and white in colour it has a green light in front with letter oil beside it im not sure what its for or what itis telling me ive got a problem when i start the engine it starts and seems to run fine for 5 mins or so then the green light goes out and the engine stalls give it a few mins and it starts and does the same thing this engine sat in the garage for 3yrs and i have flushed and replaced thermostat was full of salt also removed and cleaned carb thoroughly as it was all varnished over with dead gas but it started right up and runs great till it stalls<br /><br /> any help would be appreciated

The green light indicates oil pressure, but your story sounds like you have an electrical problem.Could be as easy as a loose or broken wire;I'd be inclined to pull the flywheel and start checking there for dirty connections, loose or cracked wires etc.Do you have a manual?

yes i have a generic manual a clymers someone said an oil pressure switch but cant seem to locate it yet in the book i have it mentions it in another chapter but this book covers alot of different models of honda so not sure if mine even has one

The two wires connected to the green light should give you a starting point; one goes to the coil& the other to the oil pressure switch.
