honda BF75 help

My first post,so i appoligize for any errors.
i have a few questions,any help is greatly appreciated.
i have a 2000 honda BF75hp,how can i verify if the year is correct?the engine serial number is BBAE-2101056
also...can i use automotive gear oil castrol 75/90 synthetic oil in the lower unit?it calls for SAE 90 in the manual.

I do not know the year, but do not use any automotive products. Marine grade oils have special additives to combat water...maybe they're more expensive, but a rather cheap investment considering the alternative.
