I have a Honda BF5A (5hp, 4 stroke) outboard. When I run the motor there is no water coming out from the top. I'm guessing this means the water pump is not operating, but I have next to no experience with outboards. Any suggestions on further diagnosing, how to fix, and getting a repair manual? I only discovered this because it stopped while operating and I guessed it was due to overheating. Is there an automatic shutoff if it overheats that shuts it down before it gets hot enough to damage the motor? (Seems to run fine when I started it up later to check if there was any water coming out.)
