Honda BF50 oil filter question

Hello (again),

The new oil filter for my 2000 BF50 is a bit shorter than the one I took off, and it actually "bottoms" when tightening by hand, meaning that the metal of the filter canister contacts the base flange on the motor. It goes on a bit more than 1/2 turn after gasket contact before the metal to metal contact. Is this normal? I don't recall any spin-on filter doing this, on any truck, car, or motorcycle that I have ever serviced before. I have not yet started the motor with the new filter on it.

The Honda filter is labelled 15400-PFB-004, and says Honda Genuine Parts on it. The tag is red. It is made by the "Toyo Roki Mfg. Co."

Thanks, Alan (getting ready for winter) in BC

Re: Honda BF50 oil filter question

The part # for mine is, 15400-ZW4-003. I know it correct and it doesn't bottom out.
